The uninstall of the Kensington Trackballworks 1.1 beta version, or in Windows 7 after installing and uninstalling the 1.1 beta version, and after again installing the working 1.04 version (well 'working with quirks!'), the system continued to yell it couldn't activate the previously activated 1.04 version. Though technically speaking, you're right: if Microsoft requires drivers to be signed, and this one isn't - it does not help me forward: How on earth can I revert to version 1.04 without completely reinstalling the machine? I know the 1.1 beta version not to contain any malware. rebooted again, reinstalled version 1.04 again, rebooted once more. For most of these keys it worked.įor some, I can't delete nor modify them. Uninstalled again, rebooted, used regedit to try and delete all kensington-related keys. Same result: exclamation mark, unsigned driver issue code 52. So, I uninstalled the 1.1 beta, rebooted, re-installed version 1.04. The details state that Windows 7 refuses to activate unsigned driver software (Code 52 whatever that mayīe). They told me to install version 1.1 beta.Īfter doing so, I found in the control panel -> hardware -> human interface devices that there is an exclamation mark over the trackball's icon. So, I asked Kensington support for advice. This can be tedious, especially when a lot of copies run. The workaround is to kill all running versions, and start one copy manually. When multiple copies run, the trackball (software) will not behave properly. Work reasonably well: that is: after boot, I would find anywhere between 1 and 31 copies of the trackballworks software running. Installed Kensington TrackballWorks 1.04. Machine is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit, SP1.
